Ten Review
Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here to review Ten by Gretchen McNeil, a book about,
murder, suspense, and mystery!
“SHHHH!
Don't spread the word!
Three-day weekend. Party at White Rock House on Henry Island.
You do NOT want to miss it.
It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive
house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their
reasons for being there (which involve T.J., the school’s most eligible
bachelor) and look forward to three glorious days of boys, booze and fun-filled
luxury.
But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and
what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with
a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.
Suddenly people are dying, and with a storm raging, the teens
are cut off from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and
a ferry that isn’t scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more
violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more
people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?”

First, I enjoyed this book; it had
good action, suspense, character, and a really good plot twist. I only have two
real gripes about it and that is 1) it took a little while for the action to
start. The first (around) 75 pages of this book are really just set up, which I
would normally be okay with; it’s just that I went into this book expecting to
be gripped by the first 50 pages, and I didn’t get that. And 2) the end is
kinda confusing. Now I’m not going to go into detail about exactly what
happened (because that’s for my spoiler review) but what I will say is that
there is a big plot twist at the end of the book and it gets pretty confusing.
For anyone who has read the book I have a spoiler review here on my YouTube
where I go into more detail on why it’s confusing.
Now for all the positives! I really
enjoyed the characters in this book, specifically Meg. Meg was just a good,
loyal, and smart protagonist making it fun to read from her POV. I also enjoyed
the action and suspense towards the end of the novel. The end definitely kept
me guessing and reading!
Overall, I enjoyed this book and I
recommend it to anyone who enjoys suspense or horror type books. For anyone who
has read the book, you can find my spoilery/ more in-depth review on my YouTube

Bye!
