Lair of Dreams Review

I had been looking forward to the sequel to The Diviners by Libba Bray ever since I first read the mystical historical fiction novel. The writing and characters were refreshing and I couldn’t wait to see how Bray would follow it up— little did I know I’d have to wait years to find that out. *THIS IS A SECOND BOOK IN A SERIES! THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST BOOK! SORRY* After a supernatural showdown with a serial killer, Evie O’Neill has outed herself as a Diviner. With her uncanny ability to read people’s secrets, she’s become a media darling, earning the title “America’s Sweetheart Seer.” Everyone’s in love with the city’s newest It Girl…everyone except the other Diviners. Piano-playing Henry DuBois and Chinatown resident Ling Chan are two Diviners struggling to keep their powers a secret—for they can walk in dreams. Christmas Book Haul!

Image
Since I had been posting updates for Bout of Books all last week I never actually got a chance to post a book haul from after Christmas, so her goes nothing! Are you tired of me talking about this book yet? Well sorry… I bought it while I was strolling through Barnes and Noble after Christmas. The cover caught my eye because it had the abandoned New York City Hall subway station on it— after that I couldn’t help but buy the book. Most of you probably know that I’ve already read Lair of Dreams now and there will be a review coming soon! I have been looking forward to this book since it was originally announced! I have been a fan of Alexandra Bracken’s novels since The Darkest Minds series so I have high expectations for Passenger . What I’ve read of it as of now is really good so I am excited to continue reading and see where the story goes. Plus… DO YOU SEE THAT COVER? IT’S GORGEOUS! Yes, I bought the new covers of The Infernal Devices ! I actually had only owned...

Bout of Books 15 Weekend Update

Bout of Books has now come to a close this weekend! This post will be an update for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all together since I was busy all weekend and didn’t get to post an update until now. I did still get to read this weekend though, just not as much as during the week. On Friday and Saturday I read the last 100 pages of Lair of Dreams which I really enjoyed. Look forward to a review on that coming later this week! Today I started reading Passenger by Alexandra Bracken and read 50 pages. I am extremely excited to continue reading this book because just the few pages that I have read have already gripped me and pulled me into the action— I can’t wait to keep reading! How did Bout of Books go for you (if you participated)? What are you currently reading? Keep Reading… Meagan!

Bout of Books 15 Day 4

Bout of Books day 4 has just passed us by and this wasn’t the big reading day I wanted it to be. I still read 100 pages of Lair of Dreams despite school doing everything in its power to have me not read those pages, but I didn’t get to finish the book. I still have about 100 pages left in Lair of Dreams so I’ll finish that tomorrow, but other than that I don’t think I’m going to get to read much tomorrow and Saturday because I will be attending Wizard World Comic Con in New Orleans all day this Saturday so that will be taking up most of my time… How is your reading going? What are you reading at the moment? Keep Reading… Meagan!

Bout of Books 15 Day 3

We are steadily making our way through the Bout of Books Read-a-thon now having completed day 3! Day 3 was great for me since I read 120 pages of Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray! I have about 200 pages left so I hope to finish that as soon as possible so I can move on to Passenger !  What are you currently reading? Are you participating in the read-a-thon? Keep Reading… Meagan!

Hello my fellow readers! One day of the Bout of Books Read-a-thon has officially passed! If you are curious as to what Bout of Books is click HERE and that will take you to the website, then come back and discuss with everyone! For this first day I read 100 pages of Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray! This is actually really good for me since I had been in a reading slump since about August. I am really enjoying this book— the historical aspect is refreshing and the characters are great! I can’t wait to see where the story goes! I will probably read more later tonight (since I'm just writing this before I put my computer up) and everything I read after this will be counted in tomorrow’s reading count.
