2016 Wrap Up

Well 2016 is wrapping up with farewells from everyone! It was a great year for some and not so great for others, but now it’s time to take one last look at 2016 before launching into the hopes and dreams I’ve built up for 2017! Reading My reading goals for 2016 were vague and without a set number of books to read. With that said, I did keep to my goal of only reading things I enjoyed. Looking back on the year, I enjoyed most of the books I’ve read and I never wasted time powering through a mediocre book. During 2016 I also branched out a lot and read things I wouldn’t normally read. I found myself reading (and enjoying) a lot of indie and less popular books and it was nice. While I’m now going to have to go back and catch up on some of the more popular books and series that came out during the year, I don’t really mind. Notable Reads Bad Bloods: Shannon Thompson’s novels have yet to disappoint. Both November Rain and November Snow were great parts to a fast-paced story fu...

Wow 2016 is flying by! April has come bringing us away from winter and into spring and March has flown past. Now we must look over the month of March and wrap up the books that were read. March Reads A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Other than that, I’m enjoying the books that I’ve read so far and look forward to more great books to come! Have you read any of the books mentioned above? What did you think of them? Keep Reading… Elise!

A Gathering of Shadows Review

Image
A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab was recommended to me by a friend on Instagram with the words ‘it will emotionally ruin you.’ He was right… *AGOS is a second book in a series please do not read further unless you have read A Darker Shade of Magic . You can find a spoiler free review for the first book in the series HERE * Four months have passed since the shadow stone fell into Kell’s possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Rhy was wounded and the Dane twins fell, and the stone was cast with Holland’s dying body through the rift, and into Black London. In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt. Restless, and having given up smuggling, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks like she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games—an extravaga...

February Book Haul

Image
I was doing well about not buying any new books and focusing on the ones on my bookshelf, but then I went to the bookstore... SO HERE’S MY  FEBRUARY  BOOK HAUL! After hearing nothing but amazing things about this book, I finally caved and bought it. I loved the movie so I have high expectations and think I will love it! I was planning on putting this one off until later but a certain person’s review on Instagram just made me pick it up. Victoria Schwab is my favorite author and I have loved all of her novels so I have high expectations for A Gathering of Shadows . Grant Goodman contacted me about reading this for a review and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity (Ninjas and Special Agents— I mean come on!). But I also feel that I don’t read many middle grade novels anymore so this will be fun to branch out of my usual genre of YA. Have you read any of the books mentioned above? What did you think of them? Keep Reading… Meagan!
