Top 5 Wednesday... 3/23

Image
Hey guys, welcome to Top 5 Wednesday! If you don’t know what Top 5 Wednesday is then click HERE , if not, stay! This week’s topic is top 5 DNF (did not finish) books! Despite LOVING Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children , when I tried to read the second book, I ended up putting it down 100 pages in. This could, of course, have something to do with the fact that I was reading it on my kindle, and you don’t get the same effect with the pictures when you’re looking at them on a kindle. I’d like to give this one another shot one day, but I don’t know. I went into Half Bad with high expectations after hearing amazing things about it on Bookstagram and Booktube, but when I tried to read it I couldn’t get into it. I read about 100 pages before I finally gave up. I was expecting a fast paced story that I wouldn’t be able to put down, but, when I tried to read it, I just wasn’t interested. This was a highly, highly anticipated book for me since I’m a huge fan o...

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children Review

Image
Hello! So I recently finished rereading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children so instead of writing another review for a book I've already reviewed on my Instagram, I'm going to post my old review of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs on here; a book about children, monsters, and photographs… A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. And a strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children who once lived here - one of whom was his own grandfather - were more tha...

Unfinished Series

Image
Hey guys! We all have those series where we get through one book but we can’t or put off getting through the rest of the books; it’s no fun. But that’s why I’m here today to talk about a few series that I haven’t finished! Miss Peregrine’s is actually one of my favorite books (I even have a signed copy)! But after I read it and I went to read Hollow City, I made the mistake of buying it on my kindle. I got about halfway through before having to put it down. Now that Hollow City is out in paperback, I think I might buy it and give it another shot! I read this book some time last year and enjoyed it. The second book has come out since then but I haven’t had time to pick it up yet. I probably will one day; it just might be a while. I read the first three books in this series as a kind of light, quick read and I enjoyed them, but I had borrowed the third book from my friend at the end of the school year and didn’t feel like buying the forth. I can always just buy the fo...
