2015 Wrap Up

The year of 2015 is coming to a close meaning now it is time for me to look back on the year— the books that I read, the movies that I watched, and all of the goals that I didn’t make. Reading My main reading goal for 2015 was to read 45 books but I slacked off early in the year and ended up only getting through 22 books. This year I focused on just reading whenever and whatever I wanted and did not force myself to read anything if I wasn’t enjoying it. At the beginning of the year I planned on using a TBR jar throughout the year and I followed through with this for a few months but eventually gave up. My final reading goal was to start reading comic books and I did start reading a few Flash and Green Arrow comics while also using the internet to learn more about other heroes. Notable reads  Rebel Belle : This was a refreshing and fun read! I am really glad I read it! A Darker Shade of Magic : Another great book from author V E Schwab! I was really looking forward to...

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (and why it's great!)

Image
HELLO! My fellow readers! Today instead of the usual Goodreads Monday post and talking about books that I haven’t read, I am going to show off a book that I have read! When I was looking through my Goodreads list to find a book to talk about today Me and Earl and the Dying Girl really stood out as a book that I’m still thinking about! Both the book and the movie were superb, with great characters, and unique storytelling! Jesse Andrew has such a quirky since of humor that comes out great in both the book and the movie (which was WRITTEN by him). Due to Jesse Andrews writing the screenplay, the  spirit  and themes of the book were captured SO WELL in the movie and it made a great experience for both fans of the book and movie fans alike. If you haven’t checked out Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (the book or the movie), you should go out right now and read/ watch it! You won’t regret it! Keep Reading… Meagan!

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl Movie Review

Image
So yesterday I finally got the chance to see Me and Earl and the Dying Girl ! I’ve been looking forward to this movie ever since I saw the trailer. After the trailer got me interested I read the book which was great and I’m glad I read it! (You can find that review HERE). Then the author (Jesse Andrews), the director (Alfonso Gomez-Rejon), and the two lead actors (Thomas Mann and Olivia Cooke) were at BookCon! I went to that panel and it was GREAT! Making me even more excited to see the movie! So now I’ve finally seen Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and… it was AMAZING! It captures the spirit of the book in the characters and taking the best parts of the books and leaving out what didn’t work as well. The movie stays faithful to the book in the spirit of the character and how they talk and act. It changes some things towards the end but I think that was for the better! The changes flowed well in the story making me more of a fan of the ending. The acting and the directing was al...

I'm Back From Book Con!

Image
Hey guys I’m back from Book Con!!! Yes! Book Con was a fun adventure! There were sooo many people there and, wow people were lining up for signings hours before they opened! That is the reason that I didn’t actually get any books signed, I just rather go to panels than stand in lines to get my books signed. But I get to attend a lot of panels and listen to people talk which was great! Patrick Ness was hilarious and British (two things I did not know) and now I'm excited for his new book! And the guys from Cinema Sins were great and funny! I was originally planning on going to the Paper Towns panel but I didn’t realize that you had to get a bracelet for that so I went to the Cinema Sins panel instead but I ended up loving the panel! I think my favorite panel of the day was the Me and Earl and the Dying Girl panel because Jesse Andrews is just me in author form! He's quirky and funny and just great! Then I worked up the nerve to ask a question which actually sparked a ...

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl Review

Image
Hey guys! So today I finished Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews meaning that now it’s time for a review! Greg Gaines is the last master of high school espionage, able to disappear at will into any social environment. He has only one friend, Earl, and together they spend their time making movies, their own incomprehensible versions of Coppola and Herzog cult classics. Until Greg’s mother forces him to rekindle his childhood friendship with Rachel. Rachel has been diagnosed with leukemia—-cue extreme adolescent awkwardness—-but a parental mandate has been issued and must be obeyed. When Rachel stops treatment, Greg and Earl decide the thing to do is to make a film for her, which turns into the Worst Film Ever Made and becomes a turning point in each of their lives. And all at once Greg must abandon invisibility and stand in the spotlight. – Goodreads.com summary Rating This book is a hard one to rate because I feel so sure about half of it but then the e...

Reading Update

Image
Hey guys! Today I’m here with a reading update! Man, I haven’t done one of these in a while! I guess, it’s because I have been in a reading slump for so long, but now I’m reading two good books and I want to tell y’all that I’m reading them. I wanted to read this when I saw the trailer for the movie and it looked great. Then I heard that people involved in the movie are coming to Bookcon (and so am I) so I immediately went and bought this book on my kindle. So far this book has far surpassed my expectations— it is hilarious, fun, and interesting; I think I’ll be finishing it soon. My brother actually bought this book a while back so I had to wait for him to finish it before I had the chance to read it, but now he has given it to me to read and I’m so excited! I really liked Mistborn so I am excited to see where Brandon Sanderson goes with the story! Have you read any of the books mentioned above? What did you think of them? Also, what are you reading right now? ...
