Top 5 Wednesday... 3/8

Image
Hey fellow readers, welcome to Top 5 Wednesday! If you don’t know what Top 5 Wednesday is then click   HERE , if not, stay! This week’s topic is top 5 SCIFI/ fantasy books. By now it is safe to say, Victoria Schwab is my favorite author. A Darker Shade of Magic is the fourth series I’ve read by her and it has never disappointed. I’m in the middle of the third book right now and LOVING it. Oh look, my other favorite author. The Unwind series has brought me so many emotions. I’ve laughed, cried, and cheered these characters on since I was in 8th grade; it just feels so real. These are technically Urban Fantasy, but that is a subgenre of fantasy sooo :) This is another series where everyone feels so real! After the end of each series, I never want to let these characters go. I sobbed at the end of both Clockwork Princess and City of Heavenly Fire . Check these books out (and PS, I recommend reading in publication order for any Cassandra Clare novices). ...

A Gathering of Shadows Review

Image
A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab was recommended to me by a friend on Instagram with the words ‘it will emotionally ruin you.’ He was right… *AGOS is a second book in a series please do not read further unless you have read A Darker Shade of Magic . You can find a spoiler free review for the first book in the series HERE * Four months have passed since the shadow stone fell into Kell’s possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Rhy was wounded and the Dane twins fell, and the stone was cast with Holland’s dying body through the rift, and into Black London. In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt. Restless, and having given up smuggling, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks like she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games—an extravaga...

2015 Wrap Up

The year of 2015 is coming to a close meaning now it is time for me to look back on the year— the books that I read, the movies that I watched, and all of the goals that I didn’t make. Reading My main reading goal for 2015 was to read 45 books but I slacked off early in the year and ended up only getting through 22 books. This year I focused on just reading whenever and whatever I wanted and did not force myself to read anything if I wasn’t enjoying it. At the beginning of the year I planned on using a TBR jar throughout the year and I followed through with this for a few months but eventually gave up. My final reading goal was to start reading comic books and I did start reading a few Flash and Green Arrow comics while also using the internet to learn more about other heroes. Notable reads  Rebel Belle : This was a refreshing and fun read! I am really glad I read it! A Darker Shade of Magic : Another great book from author V E Schwab! I was really looking forward to...

Hey guys, welcome to Top 5 Wednesday! If you don’t know what Top 5 Wednesday is then click HERE , if not stay! This week’s topic is Top 5 chapter headers! In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken I couldn't not include a book from this series because these chapter headers are really memorable. I can recognize each book in the series just by their chapter headers! Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins  This is a really simple and beautiful header from the cursive font to the pretty bow in the corner!  Champion by Marie Lu Another memorable cover with the name of whoever's POV the chapter is from and the text color depending on which POV it's from. A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab This is actually a picture of the 'part one' page, if you know what I mean but I just really like it so I had to include it. I love the different pictures of London over the title symbolizing the Londons in the book! The Raven Boys by Maggie Steifvator This...

A Darker Shade of Magic Review

Image
Hey guys today I’m here to review a book about magicians, thieves, and multiple Londons; also known as, A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab. Kell is one of the last Travelers—rare magicians who choose a parallel universe to visit. Grey London is dirty, boring, lacks magic, ruled by mad King George. Red London is where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. White London is ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. People fight to control magic, and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. Once there was Black London - but no one speaks of that now. Officially, Kell is the Red Traveler, personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell smuggles for those willing to pay for even a glimpse of a world they’ll never see. This dangerous hobby sets him up for accidental treason. Fleeing into Grey London, Kel...

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here with a book haul!!! This past Tuesday two books came out that I’ve been waiting for all year! One is written by my favorite author at the moment and the other is a sequel to a great book that I read last year. The two books that I’m talking about are A Darker Shade of Magic by Victoria Schwab and Salt and Stone by Victoria Scott. A Darker Shade of Magic After reading Vicious I think it’s safe to say that Victoria Schwab is my favorite author. She always has amazing books full of well thought out characters and interesting plots. That is why I’ve been looking forward to this book since I first heard about it. It finally came in the mail today, so I’m excited to get started reading it! Salt and Stone For anyone who doesn’t know, this is the sequel to Fire and Flood , a book that I read and enjoyed last spring. So I’ve been looking forward to this book ever since I finished the first book. I’m excited to see how the story picks u...
