The Retribution of Mara Dyer Review
Hello guys, it’s Meagan and today I’m
here to review the insane, crazy, amazing book the is The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin.
*NOTE* This is the last book in the Mara
Dyer series so I don’t recommend reading any further unless you have read up to
at least the second book in the series (The Evolution of Mara Dyer).
It had to end
sometime, but Mara had no idea it would end like this. Experience the
mind-blowing conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Mara Dyer trilogy.
Mara Dyer wants to believe there's more to the lies she’s been told.
There is.
She doesn’t stop to think about where her quest for the truth might
lead.
She should.
She never had to imagine how far she would go for vengeance.
She will now.
Loyalties are betrayed, guilt and innocence tangle, and fate and
chance collide in this shocking conclusion to Mara Dyer’s story.

Rating
I would say that I would reread this
book! *gasp!* Big shocker, I know! My favorite series, and it only got a ‘would
reread’, but the truth is that I had to convince myself that I’m reviewing JUST
the last book and not the entire series. I still recommend the entire series
for EVERYONE and love it but parts of the last book were not as good as I
hoped.
Things I Liked
The first thing I really liked was that
Jamie, Stella, and Daniel were involved in this book! I LOVE those characters
(especially Jamie) and I was so excited to see more of their characters, to see
them develop, and (best of all) to see their banter with each other.
This leads me to my next point, the
banter! This book did not skip out on one of the best parts of the Mara Dyer
series and that’s the banter between characters. Whether it be between Mara and
Jamie or Jamie and Stella, it’s always hilarious!
The Retribution also has all of the explanations
you want! A good majority of the book is spent just on trying to explain and
figure out what the heck has been going on, which, honestly, is what we all
wanted from this book.
Things I Didn’t Like
Yes, sadly, this part of the review has
to exist… I was really hoping there would be no negatives about this book but,
sadly, there are so let’s talk about them.
So my main negative is kind of a weird
negative, but it’s the structure of the novel. In my opinion this series is
structured almost more like a duology than a trilogy. I feel this is because it
felt like the climax came about 100 pages into the book and it was just
repercussions from The Evolution. This left the other 300 pages for searching
for explanations and while I loved the actual explanations, some scenes when
they were looking for the
explanations were kind of slow. My other (kind of) negative is that, as said
above, some parts of the book didn’t hold my attention much. I was hoping that
the book would be nonstop fast-paced but sadly it slowed down and lost my
attention at some parts. (If you would like to hear me explain this more, I
plan on filming a video mostly on this topic, so look out for that.)
Overall
Overall, despite the things mentioned
above, I really enjoyed The Retribution
of Mara Dyer;I would reread this book, and I recommend this series for everyone!
Have you read The Retribution
of Mara Dyer (or the series)? What did you think of it? Comment be low and
