Seconds Before Sunrise Review
Hey guys, it’s been a while since my last book review but that’s
because I’ve been saving a good one for you! Today I’m here to review Seconds before Sunrise by Shannon A.
Thompson!
THIS BOOK IS PART OF A SERIES! IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE MY REVIEW FOR THE FIRST BOOK YOU CAN CLICK HERE!
“Chaos within destiny. It was the definition of our
love.”
Eric has weeks before his final battle when he’s in an
accident. Forced to face his human side, he knows he can’t survive if he fights
alone. But he doesn’t want to surrender, even if he becomes the sacrifice for
war.
Jessica’s memory isn’t the only thing she’s lost. Her
desire to find her parents is gone and so is her confidence. But when fate
leaves nightmares behind, she decides to find the boy she sees in them, even if
it risks her sanity. –goodreads.com summary
Rating
The author gave me this book in exchange for an honest review…
And good thing she did because this book is AMAZING! And I recommend it for
everyone! It took all the successful elements from the first book and continued
them, while adding new elements that also worked well!
Thoughts
Seconds before Sunrise focused much more on the human aspect of this world that
Shannon Thompson has created which is really interesting. The book spends a large
amount of time showing interactions with its human characters (and when it does
follow shades they are usually in their human form). This allows the reader to
gain a connection to some of these characters that wouldn’t be there if Shannon
Thompson had just left them to the background. It also gives the reader a new
and different POV to see this world from, especially since for a good bit of
the book Jessica’s only memory of shades is in dreams. It’s fascinating to
think about Jessica’s POV versus Eric’s— they are both so different and give
you insight to characters and the world in their own way.
Since I’ve already touched on it a little bit, I’m just going
to dive right into talking about the world that these books have created! This
world of light Vs Dark but the dark being the good guys is so interesting. And
the idea of all of this going on around us and we wouldn’t know it (since they
have their human form), I just love learning about all of it! The first book (Minutes before Sunset) had explained a
lot about the dark but now I want to know more about the light! It was touched
on a little in Seconds before Sunrise
but I want to know more!
Last thing, THAT ENDING! Okay so no spoilers, obviously, but
something happened that I’m NOT okay with but then at the very end something
really sweet happened so I’m just a ball of emotions at the moment!
Overall
Overall, I LOVED Seconds
before Sunrise and I’m so glad that the author gave me a copy to review! I
think everyone should give this series a shot, it is really different and
refreshing from the same old, same old!
Meagan!
