Hello readers! The Unpopular Opinion Book
Tag was created by The Book Archer. I was not tagged by anybody but I saw the
tag on Novels and Necklaces’s blog and thought I’d give it a shot!
Popular book or series that you didn’t like
If you follow my Instagram then you
might’ve heard me talk about this one before but I’m just not a fan of The 5th Wave. The book had
such promise and I was so hyped to read it but it fell flat by page 50 with its
confusing writing style and (honestly) just flat out depressing plot.
Popular book or series that everyone else
seems to hate but you love
This is kind of a cheat since not everyone hated
Fractured but it does seem to be the
least favorite of the Slated trilogy, meaning the fact that it’s my favorite
puts me in a small minority. I felt that the plot was a different twist from Slated while still building on the plot
and character that we met in the first book.
Love triangle where the main character
ended up with the person you did not want them to end up with
I have trouble thinking of an example of
where this has happened since I am normally neutral on love triangles or I
don’t want the main character to end up with either option. I hated the love
triangle so much in Shatter Me that I
just prefer that she be alone! (But I won’t go on about that because I’ve
harped on enough about that in past posts before…)
Popular book genre that you hardly reach
for
The easy answer is nonfiction, but I also
rarely read historical fiction.
A popular or beloved character that you do
not like
This one for me is easy— the Darkling from Shadow and Bone. This is a character
that I just don’t understand why people like. He is a manipulative, twisted
little butt face and I just don’t get it! People even ship him and the main
character… WHY!?
Show adaptation that you liked better than
the book
I think most fans of the show that have
read the book would agree that the show far outshines the books. I have talked
about this in past posts— about the potential of the books and if you should
watch the show or read the books so you can look up that if you’re interested!

YAY I'm so happy you did this tag!! I'm really surprised to see the amount of people saying they didn't enjoy The 5th Wave. I really loved The 5th Wave, but The Infinite Sea disappointed me. Also, I love The Darkling! For some reason he just got to me especially in the later books once we learned more of his history. This was such a fun tag! :)
ReplyDeleteI was surprised that I didn't like The 5th Wave! I really wanted to like it! But I did end up finishing it and I felt the same about The Infinite Sea. I didn't like what Rick Yancey did with Ringer (the only character that I really liked). And maybe I'll understand the feelings on The Darkling when I read Ruin and Rising because I still need to finish that book. Yeah I really enjoyed the tag!
