Top 5 Wednesday... 3/23
Hey guys, welcome to Top 5 Wednesday! If you don’t know what
Top 5 Wednesday is then click HERE, if not, stay! This week’s topic is top 5 DNF
(did not finish) books!
Despite LOVING Miss Peregrine’s
Home for Peculiar Children, when I tried to read the second book, I ended
up putting it down 100 pages in. This could, of course, have something to do
with the fact that I was reading it on my kindle, and you don’t get the same
effect with the pictures when you’re looking at them on a kindle. I’d like to
give this one another shot one day, but I don’t know.
I went into Half Bad
with high expectations after hearing amazing things about it on Bookstagram and
Booktube, but when I tried to read it I couldn’t get into it. I read about 100
pages before I finally gave up. I was expecting a fast paced story that I wouldn’t
be able to put down, but, when I tried to read it, I just wasn’t interested.
This was a highly, highly
anticipated book for me since I’m a huge fan of Cassandra Clare, but I think I
picked it up at a bad time. I read about 50 pages then stopped because I just didn’t
feel the urge to pick it up anymore, so I put it down. I might go back one day
and finish The Iron Trial but I don’t
know.
Everyone talks about how amazing and fast paced Throne of Glass is but I couldn’t get
into it. I was really excited when I first started reading Throne of Glass but that excitement faded when I wasn’t interested
in the story or the characters. I might try to finish Throne of Glass one day… we’ll see.
Have you read anyone of the books mentioned above? Do you
think I’m crazy for not finishing these books? What books have you not
finished?
Elise!
I'm nervous now...Throne of Glass and Half Bad are both on my TBR. I'm not planning on reading Hollow City because even though I loved the writing in Miss Peregrine's, I didn't really like the direction I could see the story going based on the ending of the first book.
ReplyDeleteI would say to go into those books with an open mind because I'm definitely in the minority for not enjoying them. Yeah, I feel like Hollow City has a very different feel than Miss Peregrine's did.
DeleteRead throne of glass but assume everything ends as a hapoily ever after after heir of fire, don't read on after that. HC was good and I think it does go in a good direction but the end of the 3rd book is really weird (or at least the climax)
