Cover Changes
Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here to talk about
something we pretty much all hate… Cover Changes *cringe*
So I understand why publishers make cover changes; the
original cover wasn’t selling well and they think that a new, flashier cover
will attract new readers, but what they don’t realize is that this annoys the
current fans because now the series won’t match on their shelf. A few examples
of this are The Shatter Me series and
the Across the Universe series. Fans
have one or two books in one cover style, and then they have to buy the other
books in a completely different cover style. I, luckily, came into both of
these series after these cover changes happened so my shelf was not affected by
them. But a series that has multiple editions of its cover that has affected my
shelf is the Chaos Walking series by
Patrick Ness. I originally had one of the lesser popular hardback covers for
the first book and then I asked for the second and third book for Christmas
without specifying which cover to buy. This caused by aunt to buy me the second
and third books in paperback and in a different cover style. So, now my Chaos
Walking books don’t match.
Those are some of my thoughts on cover changes; how do you
feel about cover changes? Comment and let me know!
