Don’t you just hate it when you have to wait years between books in a series to release? Well, you don’t have to worry about that this time around. The Timely Death Trilogy is releasing in full this summer and fall, and today, the sequel— Seconds Before Sunrise —released! If you haven’t checked out the first installment, Minutes Before Sunset , find it on Amazon , Barnes & Noble , and Goodreads , but here is the information for the sequel, Seconds Before Sunrise . Required Reading!

Hello readers! I was thinking about things to talk about and I settled on a topic that’s is old as summer reading itself, does the requirement of reading ruin reading? This is an interesting topic to me because I don’t necessarily take a side, as there have been required book that I have LOVED and required books that I have HATED! Honestly, some of my favorite books were required books… so if the required element didn’t ruin them, then what happened with the other books? Maybe I just genuinely didn’t like them? Just some thoughts! Please chime in and tell me your thoughts on required reading and if you think it ruins books? Keep Reading… Meagan!

What's Going on in my Life Right Now?

Hey readers! Sorry that posts have been slowing down lately— school just started back up for me and I’m busy reading Les Miserables so I can write a review on that! (PS I’m LOVING it so far!), but since Les Mis is so long I have decided to split the book for reviews (so I don’t have to leave you without reviews for too long!). For anyone who doesn’t know, Les Mis is already split into parts (or books), each part is about 300 pages and once I finish a part I will do a discussion/review for that part. Then, when I finish the whole book I’ll do an overall review! How are all my amazing followers? What are you reading at the moment? Have you read Les Mis ? If you have, what did you think of it? Keep Reading… Meagan!

Goodreads Monday! The Near Witch

Image
Hello and welcome to Goodreads Monday! A weekly meme hosted by Forever Reading   where we feature books that we added to our TBR thinking we’d read them, but we never did. The Near Witch is only an old story told to frighten children. If the wind calls at night, you must not listen. The wind is lonely, and always looking for company. And there are no s trangers in the town of Near. These are the truths that Lexi has heard all her life. But when an actual stranger-a boy who seems to fade like smoke-appea rs outside her home on the moor at night, she knows that at least one of these sayings is no longer true. The next night, the children of Near start disappearing from their beds, and the mysterious boy falls under suspicion. Still, he insists on helping Lexi search for them. Something tells her she can trust him. As the hunt for the children intensifies, so does Lexi's need to know-about the witch that just might be more than a bedtime story, about t...

Reading Update... 8/14

Since I just finished a read-a-thon and just got a book in the mail I figured it's about time for a reading update! So at the moment I'm reading Les Mis  by Victor Hugo! I'm about 150 pages in and I'm really enjoying it so far! I'm excited to get to characters that I recognize from the play and I can't wait to read more! This is doubling as a book haul now because I recently got Scarlet by Marissa Meyer in the mail! This is the sequel to Cinder (which I liked) and I'm excited to read it! The cover is GORGEOUS! And I can't wait to start reading it! Have you read either of the books mentioned above? What did you think of them? Keep Reading... Meagan!

Top 5 Wednesday... 8/12

Hey guys, welcome to Top 5 Wednesday! If you don’t know what Top 5 Wednesday is then click HERE , if not stay! This week’s topic is (ironically) top 5 required reading books! *In no particular order…* The Pearl I read The Peal back in 8 th grade and despite its dark ending I actually loved the novel. I was really interested with the way that my teacher explained the symbolism and overall it was just much better than I expected! To Kill a Mockingbird Yet another book that I read in 8 th and 9 th grade— I LOVE To Kill a Mockingbird ! This was the book that made me realize that I enjoy coming of age novels and I’m glad I read it! The Book Thief I knew going into 10 th grade that I was going to reread The Book Thief because it was my English teacher’s favorite book and I actually enjoyed it more the second time! I understood more and now I’m more of a fan of coming of age stories. I Am the Messenger Another great Markus Zuzak book— I had to read this one ...

My {Angry} Thoughts on Huck Finn

Image
Some of you might remember earlier in the week when I was reading Huck Finn for the booktube-a-thon. I might’ve mentioned that I wasn’t too fond of it, but my feelings for Huck Finn go further than that… Mister Twain, I have a bone to pick with you! Yeah I know what you’re thinking… but you can’t dislike Huck Finn Meagan! It’s a classic! And to that I say that the only reason this book is a classic is because it was written by Mark Twain; if it was released today it would be another forgotten YA book. It is just so poorly structured; full of repetition and the ending was tied in way too pretty of a bow. What I’m talking about structurally is that fact this book is essentially just one scene over and over again with little variation. All that happens in the book is just Huck and friends meet someone new. Then he lies to them a bit but something goes wrong to put Huck in trouble… CUE SHENANIGANS! I noticed this pattern about 50 pages in and I was worried that the whole book w...
