My Netflix Adventure: Supernatural Seasons 9 and 10
Now I’m almost caught up on this series!
If you don’t know, I have spent the past two weeks watching
Seasons nine and ten of Supernatural on Netflix. I had originally watched up until
season nine a few years ago but I stopped watching when Season nine aired. I had kept
up with the show a little bit over the past year but hadn’t watched it, so it
was interesting coming back to the show after all this time.
The most interesting thing about coming back to Supernatural
was seeing how my preferences changed. I used to not like the one off episodes
and basically always skip the vampire episodes, but watching seasons nine and ten
I really loved the one off ghost episodes and I felt some of the vampire
episodes brought new ideas to favorite characters. I believe this change happened
since I wasn’t as invested in the overall plot of the season. I just didn’t
care that much about the angels and their drama from season nine and the issues
with Dean in season ten were definitely interesting but frustrating. I hated
seeing Dean the way he was but I guess that is what the plot was going for.
At this point I don’t think that anyone can deny that
Supernatural’s best seasons are over. Seasons one-five will always be my favorite
and, while I enjoy the more outrageous and Meta episodes, the more recent
series just aren’t as good. But the good thing is that the writers know the
story is outrageous and insane so they don’t mind going crazy with whatever
they want and fun Meta episodes, such as the play one. For anyone who hasn’t
seen it, the episode “Fan Fiction” is amazingly great! Even if you are no
longer a fan of the series, but have a Netflix account, check it out! As long
as you have seen through season five, you should understand the jokes.
Overall, Supernatural Season nine was definitely not my favorite
but I liked season 10 a little more. I enjoyed the one off ghost and joke
episodes, they always brought great atmosphere and spooks into the series. If
you are a fan of the series but aren’t caught up, I’d say it’s worth catching
up, you stuck with it this far. If you aren’t into Supernatural… what are you
doing with your life? And I wouldn’t blame you if you only watched seasons one-five then skimmed around for some of the popular episodes.
Keep Watching…
Elise!
