The Good, The Bad, and The Spoilers: Crooked Kingdom

Since I love these books so much, I might have to go back and read The Grisha Trilogy!

CROOKED KINGDOM IS THE 2ND BOOK! CLICK HERE TO GO TO MY REVIEW OF THE 1ST NOVEL (PS. it's great! You should read it!)

Welcome to the world of the Grisha.
After pulling off a seemingly impossible heist in the notorious Ice Court, criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker feels unstoppable. But life is about to take a dangerous turn—and with friends who are among the deadliest outcasts in Ketterdam city, Kaz is going to need more than luck to survive in this unforgiving underworld. -goodreads.com summary
INTRO
While I found Six of Crows an enjoyable quick read, Crooked Kingdom caused tears. I was so attached to all of the characters by the end of the novel that I didn’t want it to end. I was so proud of how far all of the characters had come and all they had accomplished! I HIGHLY recommend. Do give these books a chance!

THE GOOD
The Characters: All of the dregs are precious little babies! Even Kaz, who can be a little extreme and crazy at times, is my adorable little child who needs to lighten up and LET HIMSELF BE HAPPY… *incoherent mumbling about Kaz and Inej and how they deserve to be together* Getting back on topic, the friendship among this group of people is such a big pro of the series. Their banter is perfect and, while they might not always like to admit it, they'd be heartbroken if anything happened to any of them.

The World: Leigh Bardugo has a way of making this world feel real. I feel like I know Ketterdam and all of its back alleys and streets. It’s a darker and rougher setting that sets the  perfect tone for everything else coming in the novel. And the maps both of Ketterdam and the larger world in Crooked Kingdom are 90% of the reason that I bought the hardback (also the colored pages because omg it looks so cool!)

The Plot: Always fast paced and keeping me reading! Kaz’s plans just keep getting crazier and more dangerous and I LOVE it! It is kind of ridiculous how many fail safes he has and how much he correctly assumes while coming up with these plans but a part of me still loves it!

THE SHIPS: SHIP ALL THE CHARACTERS! I don’t know who I love more, Kaz and Inej or Matthias and Nina. And that’s saying something because I wasn’t the biggest fan of Matthias and Nina in Six of Crows, I liked them but they didn’t stand out. In Crooked Kingdom we really see how much Inej means to Kaz since he is FALLING APART without her in the beginning. I JUST WANT THEM TO BE TOGETHER FOREVER! Then there is Wylan and Jesper who I find so adorable! Jesper isn’t my favorite character (probably my least favorite of the dregs) but Wylan is so pure and adorable same as their ship.

THE EVERYTHING! <3 Seriously, go read these books!

THE BAD
Haha…ha… the only bad part is that it ended.

OVERALL
If you can't tell by now, I really loved both Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom! They are both very fun novels that also brought many tears. I got SO attached to all the characters that I just want them to be safe and happy! By this point, if you're reading this, I hope you've at least read Six of Crows (if not, WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE) and if that's so then GO READ CROOKED KINGDOM! I liked it even better than the first!

BEWARE SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT

*****************
***SPOILERS***
INEJ: Can we just talk about the fact that Kaz finds Inej’s parents for her and surprises her with both her parents AND a ship, then asks if his tie is straight before meeting her parents! KAZ YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A CRAZY THIEF NOT AN ADORABLE PUPPY DOG (but I love adorable Kaz so keep it up). And now Inej is going to be sailing around kicking some slaver butt and omg it makes me so happy!

MATTHIAS: I’M NOT CRYING YOUR CRYING! I really fell in love with Matthias in Crooked Kingdom. Whether it be his dry sense of humor or way of taking everything literally, I love all of his scenes! Him and Nina are just adorable making his death all the more sad. I have mixed feelings on if I think his death was well handled or not. On one hand, it was very underwhelming and took place away from the rest of the dregs, but it was also all the more sad to have him killed by a soldier that he once aspired to be.

JUST THE END IN GENERAL: The fact that Kaz always seems to have a backup plan no matter how ridiculous XD It was nice that he finally got revenge on Pekka Rollins but he was assuming so much about Pekka’s son that it pushed the realm of believability… But I still love it!
