Mind Games Review

Image
Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here with a review of Mind Games by Kiersten White. Fia was born with flawless instincts. Her first impulse, her gut feeling, is always exactly  right. Her sister, Annie, is blind to the world around her—except when her mind is gripped by strange visions of the future. Trapped in a school that uses girls with extraordinary powers as tools for corporate espionage, Annie and Fia are forced to choose over and over between using their abilities in twisted, unthinkable ways…or risking each other’s lives by refusing to obey. In a stunning departure from her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy, Kiersten White delivers a slick, edgy, heartstoppingly intense psychological thriller about two sisters determined to protect each other—no matter the cost.- goodreads.com summery I’d say that this is an okay one-time read, but I don’t see myself rereading it anytime soon. Don’t get me wrong, I did like this book, I just felt that it was lack

Book Adaptations that Deserve a Second Chance

We all have those favorite books that get turned it movies. You hear about the movie, you hold out hope that it’ll be good, but when you go see it; you are hopelessly disappointed. That has fueled my idea for a discussion today; books turned movies that deserve a second chance to be a better movie. Percy Jackson So I’m starting this one off with the obvious answer. These are fun adventure books with a great story and even better characters! The series also has a built-in fan base so it’s guaranteed to make money (and you know what executives what… MONEY MONEY MONEY!). Now the built-in fan base could’ve been the movie’s down fall to begin with because Hollywood thought, Hey! People already like this! They’ll see it whether it’s good or bad! We don’t have to put any effort into this! But if Hollywood put the effort into making a Percy Jackson movie, it could definitely be good! City of Bones My next pick should be obvious for any fans of this series. While the City of Bon

Hey guys welcome to Under-Hyped Book of The Week, Week 7... This week I'm here to talk about ... The Diviners by Libba Bray. Evie O’Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City—and she is pos-i-tute-ly ecstatic. It’s 1926, and New York is filled with speakeasies, Ziegfeld girls, and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is that she has to live with her uncle Will and his unhealthy obsession with the occult. Evie worries he’ll discover her darkest secret: a supernatural power that has only brought her trouble so far. But when the police find a murdered girl branded with a cryptic symbol and Will is called to the scene, Evie realizes her gift could help catch a serial killer. As Evie jumps headlong into a dance with a murderer, other stories unfold in the city that never sleeps. A young man named Memphis is caught between two worlds. A chorus girl named Theta is running from her past. A student named Jericho hi

Keep writing… BYE!!!

The Unbound Review

Image
Hey guys its Meagan and today I’m here to review the newest installment in The Archived series by Victoria Schwab, The Unbound . ***There will be spoilers for The Archived under this point if you haven’t read it, go read it!***         Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books. Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive. Last summer, Mackenzie Bishop, a Keeper tasked with stopping violent Histories from escaping the Archive, almost lost her life to one. Now, as she starts her junior year at Hyde School, she’s struggling to get her life back. But moving on isn’t easy — not when her dreams are haunted by what happened. She knows the past is past, knows it cannot hurt her, but it feels so real, and when her nightmares begin to creep into her waking hours, she starts to wonder if she’s really safe. Meanwhile, people are vanishing witho

Cover Changes

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here to talk about something we pretty much all hate… Cover Changes *cringe* So I understand why publishers make cover changes; the original cover wasn’t selling well and they think that a new, flashier cover will attract new readers, but what they don’t realize is that this annoys the current fans because now the series won’t match on their shelf. A few examples of this are The Shatter Me series and the Across the Universe series. Fans have one or two books in one cover style, and then they have to buy the other books in a completely different cover style. I, luckily, came into both of these series after these cover changes happened so my shelf was not affected by them. But a series that has multiple editions of its cover that has affected my shelf is the Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness. I originally had one of the lesser popular hardback covers for the first book and then I asked for the second and third book for Christmas without speci

Salt and Stone Excerpt plus Giveaway!

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I have something SUPER EXITING for all of y’all (especially any Victoria Scott/ Fire and Flood fans). For anyone who doesn’t know, I’m part of Victoria’s street team (or as she calls it, her V-Mafia ;) and she sent us a final excerpt from Salt and Stone to reveal and a link to a giveaway sooooo… I’m here to share this great stuff with all of you! And don’t worry, the excerpt will not spoil anything from the series if you haven’t read Fire and Flood but you still want to read the excerpt; it’s just a fun little scene and I can’t wait to see if your reactions are the same as mine!!! I swallow and stare at him in the dark, my entire body itching to feel his touch. When I see the anticipation in his stance, the way he looks at me as if I ’ m both infuriating and appealing — it makes me feel powerful. But when he takes a step in my direction, that power plummets to some place untouchable. Now I ’ m a seventeen-year-old girl again, standing in the s

Update Time!

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here with a quick update for y’all! So as y’all can probably tell, a lot of more recent posts have been more discussion-like posts and less review posts and that’s because I’m in a big reading slump right now and haven’t finished a book recently to review. Right now I’m currently reading Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson and when I finish that I’ll write and post a review! With all of that said, I’ve decided to start reposting some of my older reviews from when I used to review books on Tumblr (ones that I haven’t posted on here yet), so that I can still have some reviews to post. Hope y’all enjoy the reviews! Keep reading… BYE!!!

Fire and Flood Review

Image
Hey guy its Meagan and today I’m here to review a book by an awesome author, Fire and Flood by Victoria Scott. Tella Holloway is losing it. Her brother is sick, and when a dozen doctors can’t determine what’s wrong, her parents decide to move to Montana for the fresh air. She’s lost her friends, her parents are driving her crazy, her brother is dying—and she’s helpless to change anything. Until she receives mysterious instructions on how to become a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed. It’s an epic race across jungle, desert, ocean, and mountain that could win her the prize she desperately desires: the Cure for her brother’s illness. But all the Contenders are after the Cure for people they love, and there’s no guarantee that Tella (or any of them) will survive the race. The jungle is terrifying, the clock is ticking, and Tella knows she can’t trust the allies she makes. And one big question emerges: Why have so many fallen sick in the first place?- goodreads.com summe

Book Award Shows

Hey guys so as most movie fans know, its movie award season and the Oscars are coming up! So thinking about this inspired my topic for today… Why don’t books have award shows? So, yes, I’m aware that online sites like Goodreads host their own book awards but that’s not what I want, no I want a nationally broadcasted award show. It could feature categories like best female heroine, best male heroine, best {fill in genre here} book, best book to movie adaptation, best book, best author, etc. It would be great!!! Then when an author goes to accept the award they could give a speech thanking a bunch of people and stuff! I think it would be fun for the fans to watch and a great way to reward the authors for all their hard work on the books and show that we appreciate that work. Keep Reading… BYE!!!
