By now it is safe to say, Victoria Schwab is my favorite author. A Darker Shade of Magic is the fourth series I’ve read by her and it has never disappointed. I’m in the middle of the third book right now and LOVING it. Oh look, my other favorite author. The Unwind series has brought me so many emotions. I’ve laughed, cried, and cheered these characters on since I was in 8th grade; it just feels so real. These are technically Urban Fantasy, but that is a subgenre of fantasy sooo :) This is another series where everyone feels so real! After the end of each series, I never want to let these characters go. I sobbed at the end of both Clockwork Princess and City of Heavenly Fire . Recently I have been reading Through the Dark by Alexandra Bracken, the bind up of the three novellas from The Darkest Minds series, and it has been amazing! I had already read the first two novellas ( In Time and Sparks Rise ) prior to this and done reviews on both so I got thinking about what blog post I could do for Through the Dark , and so this post came into creation! Don’t worry there won’t be any spoilers in this post! I used to have a tradition of reading the last words of books first and, unsurprisingly, this is how I got the majority of books spoiled for me. It wasn’t until I got really invested in the mystery of the Mara Dyer trilogy that I started to not like spoilers, up until that point I had just shrugged off spoilers and not let them affect me. That was a series where I felt that the reading experience was truly altered by having it spoiled and if I could go back and read one book for the first time again, it would be The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer . Hello fellow readers! We’ve all know the saying, don’t judge a book by its cover, and we all know that we break this rule. These are some of favorite series covers (the quality of the book has nothing to do with this list). These covers go brilliantly on your shelf and the covers look beautiful together! While I am not a fan of The Mortal Instruments covers, these are much better capturing the beauty and elegance of the era while keeping the main trio the center of the covers. I am specifically talking about the original covers but I love the new ones too. I was actually not a fan of these covers to begin with but wow they have grown on me! All three of these covers are simple, beautiful, and elegant. These are how you do people covers well! Each cover is a different striking color making them look great together on the shelf. Since I had been posting updates for Bout of Books all last week I never actually got a chance to post a book haul from after Christmas, so her goes nothing! Are you tired of me talking about this book yet? Well sorry… I bought it while I was strolling through Barnes and Noble after Christmas. The cover caught my eye because it had the abandoned New York City Hall subway station on it— after that I couldn’t help but buy the book. Most of you probably know that I’ve already read Lair of Dreams now and there will be a review coming soon! I have been looking forward to this book since it was originally announced! I have been a fan of Alexandra Bracken’s novels since The Darkest Minds series so I have high expectations for Passenger . Another day of the Bout of Books read-a-thon has now flew by! Day two was another success for me since I read another 100 pages of Lair of Dreams ! I am now about halfway through the book and hope the finish it around Thursday! I want to try and step up my reading tomorrow so I can make that goal then start Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. Jamie or Stella ( Mara Dyer Trilogy ) Jamie was easily my favorite non-main character from the Mara Dyer Trilogy. He has a way lighting up the darker scenes with his great sense of humor! I would love to read from Jamie’s POV and see how he sees the world and this could be a way to learn more about his character! As for Stella she was just a character that I fell didn’t get used to her full potential I fell there is still SO MUCH that I could learn about her! Hey guys! Today I’m here to discuss some of my Top, You Can’t Go Wrong With These Books, List! The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare This series is amazing and is even better than The Mortal Instruments . I believe that Cassandra Clare truly learned from the small mistakes of the Mortal Instruments series. Plus this book has one of the best love triangles I think I’ll ever read. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken This series is a fast-paced, action packed, nail biting, roller coaster ride of a book. You are constantly on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen to your favorite characters. I’ve already talked about this book in another post HERE if you wanna see that. Hey guys it’s Meagan and it’s that time of the year… TOP 10 BOOKS OF 2014!!! YAY *APPLAUSE* I tried to keep these books to books that came out in 2014 (except for one book, but I didn’t hear about it until 2014).
