UPDATE: The Good, The Bad, and The Spoilers!

HELLO! Quick update to say that I’ll be changing the format of book review. The new reviews will be call “The Good, The Bad, and The Spoilers”. As you can probably tell the review will be split into three main sections titled “The Good”, “The Bad”, and “The Spoilers” respectively. There will also be an “Intro” and “Overall” section for my broader thoughts about why I picked up the book and what I thought of it. My recent addition of star ratings (1-5) will stay, as will my choice of a quote before the actual review. For anyone who is worried about being accidentally spoiled, FEAR NOT! The spoilers will not be mentioned until the end of the review, with a space and asterisks separating it from the rest of the review. The first review is of Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows and will be coming out on Wednesday. I hope you enjoy! Keep Reading… Elise!

Reading, College Applications, and Netflix (or lack thereof)

So, as you may have noticed, I have been absent from my social media for the past months. No, this isn’t because I have retreated to a cabin in the woods to live a life of solitude, but rather my life has been taken over by color guard, school, and college applications. I haven’t even had much time to watch Netflix which, is super depressing when considering that fact that I still haven’t seen season one of Luke Cage , season four of Arrow , season eleven of Supernatural , or season five of Once Upon a Time . I promise I am working on getting caught up with all that, starting with Supernatural , but it is taking some time. The reading side of my life is practically none existent, at the moment. I’m supposed to be reading A Tale of Two Cities for English class, but I just have no time ! I’ve also been sporadically listening to Lady Midnight on Audiobook, but I’m nowhere near done with that… sorry. But I am LOVING Mark so far and I think Julian is beginning to get some developmen...

Where Have I Been?

It isn’t hard to notice but I haven’t been posting much lately, this goes for on here and on Instagram. To be honest, life has just been super busy. I know, everyone uses that excuse, but it is my senior year so I have to worry about applying to colleges on top of my usual work. I haven’t been reading as much as I’d like to; even though I do usually have a book with me, I don’t get a chance to read much. Around the middle of October I should be able to post and read more. At that time marching season will be over for me (other than football games) and I’ll have more time, I should also be done with applying to colleges soon. Anyway, I hope things have been good for you! Keep Reading… Elise!

Audiobooks

Summer reading may be the bane of my existence but at least now I found an easier way to get it done. Before now, I had never been a fan of audiobooks even though my only read experience with them was monotone textbook readings in elementary school. They always put everyone in the class to sleep and gave me the impression that all audiobooks would be like that, but I was wrong. I recently purchased my first audio book of Tess of the D'urbervilles for only $1 and found it so much better than traditionally reading the book. I was able to listen while doing other things and get a lot more done at once. In the end, I didn’t enjoy the book that much (but that’s for another post) but the audiobook format definitely made the old English easier to understand and prevented me from zoning out due to lack of understanding. I will be listening to many more audiobooks in the coming months,  particularly  during busy school months so I can hopefully keep reading even when school ...

I'm Back!

HELLO PEOPLE! Guess who’s back? :) I’m finally back from my half hiatus thing and back in the groove of posting! You can expect about two posts a week this week and next week until the week after when I have something special planned that I will go into more detail about in another post. During my hiatus I completed one book (review coming soon) and wrote a few short stories. I am now also almost done with the school year so posts will finally be able to get back to normal (I just have to make it past exams). I have a lot of books lined up that I want to read so I think my reading slump is over meaning that reviews can resume and a summer TBR post will happen soon! Keep Reading… Meagan!

Life Update

Hello! I just wanted to tell you that reviews might slow down for a little while until the end of May. I feel kind of bad about this but I’m trying not to slip into a slump and school work is beginning to pile up. Once school is over I should be able to get back to reading AND I’ll be doing some traveling so I can’t wait to share pictures and videos from that! I just have to prepare for two AP tests plus multiple other exams with other homework thrown in there at the moment so please bear with me.  I will try to write some short ideas on the side during this time, but no promises. I’ll still be on my Instagram if you would like to talk on there, or you can follow me on Twitter . My Pintrest is also always active and Goodreads will be there for when I do read. I still love y’all, and I’m not going anywhere! Meagan!

I'm Still Here!

HELLO READERS! I’m so sorry for my long absence but I’m still trying to sort things out with school and color guard. I need to set a schedule for myself to post so that I can keep up with it but the sad truth is that I haven’t been reading as much as I should. I used to always get my reading done during the school day and now I’m getting my homework done during the school day, which is good because I can get to sleep earlier, but is also bad because I have a lot less time to read. The reason I’m posting this is becaue I want to tell you that I’m going to create a schedule for myself— on Monday I’m going to continue with the Goodreads Monday meme and on Wednesday I’m going to post a discussion. The discussion could be about books, TV, movies, or life… it just depends what mood I’m in that day. This schedule is just until November and then color guard is over and posting will go back to normal. And if I have a not busy week I’ll posts more than twice a week, it all just depends! ...

What's Going on in my Life Right Now?

Hey readers! Sorry that posts have been slowing down lately— school just started back up for me and I’m busy reading Les Miserables so I can write a review on that! (PS I’m LOVING it so far!), but since Les Mis is so long I have decided to split the book for reviews (so I don’t have to leave you without reviews for too long!). For anyone who doesn’t know, Les Mis is already split into parts (or books), each part is about 300 pages and once I finish a part I will do a discussion/review for that part. Then, when I finish the whole book I’ll do an overall review! How are all my amazing followers? What are you reading at the moment? Have you read Les Mis ? If you have, what did you think of it? Keep Reading… Meagan!

A Year of Blogging!

HEY GUYS! So today I’m here with some BIG NEWS! A year ago today, on July 1, 2014, I created my first post for this blog! It was just a simple hello post but I think this is still exciting! It’s exciting to me that I was able to keep up with a blog for a year! XD I suck with responsibility. But I love spending time writing for you on here and I love getting to talk to you about books! I would like to keep this blog up for many years to come! Keep reading… Meagan!

Reading Update

Image
Hey guys it’s about time that I gave you a reading update (I guess this’ll be a monthly thing now). I finished The Knife of Never Letting Go a while ago but I’m just now starting the second book. At the moment I’m about one hundred pages in and I’m excited to read more, I’ve heard great things about this book! I’m starting Les Mis ! After going to New York and seeing Broadway show (sadly I didn’t get to see Les Mis ) I am inspired to read the book that a play was based on. I’m excited to read this book but it’ll probably take a while since I’m going to be reading the unabridged version. Have you read either of the books mentioned above? What did you think about them? Keep reading… Meagan!

Time for a Change?

Hello! I’ve been thinking lately about the blog and such… the reason that I chose the name The Book Forums for the blog is because it is the name of my Instagram and I figured that it would be smart to just transfer the name. But now I’m branching out from more than just books into movies and TV so the name doesn’t fit as much… So this leads to what I’ve been thinking about. Maybe it’s time for a name change. I’ll have to think about a good name to take the place of y current one. If you have any suggestions please comment them below! Thanks… Meagan!

What I'm Watching/ Update

Hey guys I just want you to know why there haven’t been many reviews lately; it’s because I’ve been in a reading slump (I’ve been in one pretty much all year). But while I’ve not been reading, I’ve been doing other things like writing and catching up on lots of TV shows. Now I’ve already talked a lot about writing so this post is more about what TV shows I’ve been watching. So what have I been watching? Well, I’ve been keeping up with Arrow (which is amazing by the way) and I can’t wait to see what goes down in the last few episodes after how intense the most recent episode was! Y’all can expect a full season three/ Arrow TV show discussion a few days after the finale premiers (sometime in May). The other main show I’ve been watching is The Flash . I’m actually really interested to see where this story is going. I hadn’t realized how complex The Flash was until recently (no spoilers) but it’s really interesting and I love it! I can’t wait to see how all the pieces fit t...

Update Time!

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here with a quick update for y’all! So as y’all can probably tell, a lot of more recent posts have been more discussion-like posts and less review posts and that’s because I’m in a big reading slump right now and haven’t finished a book recently to review. Right now I’m currently reading Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson and when I finish that I’ll write and post a review! With all of that said, I’ve decided to start reposting some of my older reviews from when I used to review books on Tumblr (ones that I haven’t posted on here yet), so that I can still have some reviews to post. Hope y’all enjoy the reviews! Keep reading… BYE!!!

Writing Update

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here to do a writing update! So the last time I did one of these I had just started writing my current work in progress which I think I’m now going to call Elementa . Now I have 15 pages and 4,310 words. I am still very confident about this story and am loving writing it! I can’t wait to share more updates with y’all! Keep reading… BYE!!!

NaNoWriMo Update!

Image
Hello guys, it’s Meagan, and today I’m here with a NaNoWriMo update! So, the month is almost over and, sadly, I haven’t been able to any updates, but I’m here now! I have been writing through this month, just not as much as I hoped. My current word count is 2,885 words. So obviously I’m not going to make the 50,000 word count, but I’m just happy that I got any words on the page and that I’m making progress in my story! Also, if you would like to hear more about my NaNoWriMo adventure you can click here and watch my YouTube vlog update where I talk more about what’s been going on this month! Keep Reading! BYE!!!
