Reading Slump

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here to talk about something that every reader hates: reading slumps. Reading slumps are frustrating because you know you should be reading but you just don’t want to or you just can’t find the interest in a book. When I’m in a reading slump, I generally skip from book to book until I find one that I start enjoying and I read that one. Right now I’m in a reading slump and I’m currently switching between books, trying to find a good book to read to get me out of the slump. So have you been in a reading slump recently? If so, how did you get out of it? Or what’s a good book to help get a person out of a reading slump?              Keep reading... BYE!!!

Top 10 Favorite Heroes and Heroines

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m going to talk about my top 10 favorite Heroes and Heroines... 10.      Clary Fray (The Mortal Instruments) I really like Clary because there are times when she is strong and kick butt. But sometimes I also feel like she just complains a lot. But other than that she is awesome! 9.        Issabelle Lightwood (The Mortal Instruments) I really like Izzy she's strong, funny, knows how to fight, and not annoying! She does what she does for a reason and I understand that reason! 8.         Tessa Gray (The Infernal Devices) I love Tessa! She's so strong, kick butt, and DOESNT complain! Plus she's got Will Herondale! 7.         Lev (Unwind) When I first read Unwind I hated Lev but then as the series went on I realized how grateful I am that he's in the series! He's so smart and mature for his age... I h...

Most Changed Characters

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here to discuss my top three most changed characters! (Note, these are in no particular order) The first character I’m going to talk about is Mara Dyer from The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. In my first reading of this series I didn’t realize how much Mara changed, but it was when I went back to reread the series that I noticed how much Mara had changed. Mara went from this seemingly innocent girl who is broken and genuinely wants to get better, to a girl who is (let’s face it) insane and doesn’t give a crap that she’s insane, she’s just done with everyone’s crap. That is such a drastic change and it’s insane to see her character change like that. It’s fun though to go back and reread the first book to see how different she was. The next character I’m talking about is Ruby from The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. If you think back to Ruby in the very beginning of The Darkest Minds she was a young, frail, scared little gir...

Music and Reading

Music; some can’t read with it, some can’t read without it. I happen to fall in the latter category. You will never catch me without ear buds in my ear, even while I’m reading or writing (as I’m writing this I’m having myself a little Fall out Boy marathon :) I remember one day last year some kid in my science class came up to my while I was reading and listening to Pandora and asked what I was doing. I told him I was listening to music and he just stared at me and said, “AND READING? How do you do that at the same time???” I just told him that it wasn’t that hard for me and then went back to reading. Now I’m curious, can you listen to music while reading? And if you can, does it have to be a specific genre? I don’t have a genre preference but I know some people can only listen to instrumental when doing things. Comment and tell me! Under-Hyped Book of The Week... Week 5

Image
Hey guys welcome to Under-Hyped Book of The Week, Week 5... This week I'm here to talk about Vicious by V. E. Schwab... Victor and Eli started out as college roommates—brilliant, arrogant, lonely boys who recognized the same sharpness and ambition in each other. In their senior year, a shared research interest in adrenaline, near-death experiences, and seemingly supernatural events reveals an intriguing possibility: that under the right conditions, someone could develop extraordinary abilities. But when their thesis moves from the academic to the experimental, things go horribly wrong. Ten years later, Victor breaks out of prison, determined to catch up to his old friend (now foe), aided by a young girl whose reserved nature obscures a stunning ability. Meanwhile, Eli is on a mission to eradicate every other super-powered person that he can find—aside from his sidekick, an enigmatic woman with an unbreakable will. Armed with terrible power on both sides, driven by the memory o...

Minutes Before Sunset Review and Author Interview

Image
Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here to review Minutes Before Sunset by Shannon A. Thompson, a book about the light, the dark, and great characters! She was undoubtedly a shade, but I didn’t know her. Eric Welborn isn’t completely human, but he isn’t the only shade in the small Midwest town of Hayworth. With one year left before his eighteenth birthday, Eric is destined to win a long-raging war for his kind. But then she happens. In the middle of the night, Eric meets a nameless shade, and she’s powerful—too powerful—and his beliefs are altered. The Dark has lied to him, and he’s determined to figure out exactly what lies were told, even if the secrets protect his survival. … He had gotten so close to me—and I couldn’t move—I couldn’t get away. Jessica Taylor moves to Hayworth, and her only goal is to find more information on her deceased biological family. Her adoptive parents agree to help on one condition: perfect grades. And Jessica is distraught when she’s assig...

The Beginning

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here to talk about something kind of difficult (at least it is for me), starting books. This applies to TV shows and movies too, but the hardest part of reading any book for me, is getting through those first few pages. But the question is why are those first few pages, or first few minutes of a movie so hard to get through? Well I believe it’s because at that point the world and characters still feel foreign to you; you, as a reader, are not familiar with the characters or the author’s writing style yet. This could have something to do with why people put so many books down so early on in them. They just don’t get far enough into them to start enjoying them yet. I often dread starting new TV shows because I know that I’m going to have to spend time getting used to this new world and characters. But, of course, that’s also a good thing because it’s new characters that you care about! Do any of you also have this problem? Comment and tell m...

Most Anticipated of 2015

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here to talk about my anticipated reads of 2015! This is also the Top 5 Wednesday topic for this week, but I’m going to list more than five… A Darker Shade of Magic by Victoria Schwab Umm, my top two reads of 2014 were both by Victoria Schwab… need it say more. She is an amazing author with unique ideas and an even more unique writing style to carry them out! I can’t wait to read this one! The Shadow Cabinet by Maureen Johnson After the cliffhanger of the second book, I have been waiting for this one for a while! And, luckily, I don’t have to wait much longer! I can’t wait to see where this goes. Salt and Stone by Victoria Scott I really enjoyed Victoria Scott’s book Fire and Flood in 2014 and this is the sequel. I’m excited to see the story continued and see what happens to all my favorite characters! The Dickens Mirror by Isla J. Bick This is the sequel to what is definitely the weirdest book I read in 2014 but it was a...

Hey guys it’s Meagan and today I’m here to review Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins, a book about fun filled adventures with Paladins… kind of… Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper's destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. Under-Hyped Book of the Week... Week 3

Image
Hey guys and welcome to u nder-hyped book of the week ... week 3! The weekly post where I talk about some of my favorite underrated books This week I'm gonna talk about The Midnighters by Scott Westerfeld ...  A few nights after Jessica Day arrives in Bixby, Oklahoma, she wakes up at midnight to  find   the entire world frozen, except for her and a few others who   call   themselves 'midnighters'. Dark things haunt this midnight hour – dark things with a mysterious interest in Jessica. The question   is; why? - Amazon.com summery I read this series about a year ago because my cousin gave it to my brother. Both my brother and I hadn't heard of the series so we gave it a shot, and I'm  glad  I did! It was interesting, fast paced, and different! It also introduced me to  Scott  Westerfeld; a great author who has also written Leviathan and The Uglies ! If you have never read this series I definitely recommend it! Books i...

Another Writing Update

Hey guys it’s Meagan and it’s about time I do another writing update! Well, actually, it’s only been about a month since my last update, but I’ve done a lot of writing in that month. Now I’m at 15,000 words and 50 pages, and I’m almost done with my first draft.  Of course this means that my first draft will be very short (probably around 80 pages because I only have the third act left to write), But this draft is really just a skeleton of the story, so after I’ll go back and add more description to scenes and just more scenes in general to make it longer. Well that’s it for this update! I’ll probably be back with another update when I get into editing. Keep writing… BYE!!!

2015 Goals

Hello guys and OH MY GOSH IT’S 2015! YAY! So now since it’s 2015 I thought I’d do a post about my goals for this year! Reading! ·          Read 45 books or more. In 2014 I read 39 books and I’d like to top that ·          Start reading comic books. I’ve been wanting to get into comic books for I while now and I feel that 2015 is as good of time as ever to finally venture into the comic book section of Barns and Noble! ·          Make and use a TBR jar. I always see people using TBR jars and they look really helpful! I plan on making one and using it when deciding what books to read. Blog! ·          Review every (or most) books that I read. Around October I kinda slacked off with reviews and I’d like to not do that in 2015. ·          Post at least 5 times a week. I’d lik...
