My Bookshelves!

Image
So bookshelves… they’re an important part to storing all those books that readers buy! Everyone has different ways of organizing their bookshelves, some by color, and some alphabetically, and others by height. I, personally organize mine by height— I can’t stand looking at my books when they aren’t lined up by height. I own two bookshelves that I use; the first is actually just the top of my desk and I call it my ‘favorites shelf’. I put all of my favorite books on this shelf and this is also the shelf that you see in my header! Other than height I put all of one author’s books together but that is about all the organizing I do on this shelf! My other shelf is organized by my TBR books on the top shelf (yeah there’s a lot), then my signed books and any hardbacks that won’t fit other places on the middle shelf, and last my paperbacks on the bottom shelf (with the few comics that I own). It might be hard to see but I also have some of my favorite song lyrics wri...

Hey guys! Today I have some exciting news for any fans of Victoria Scott novels— her next book Titans has an official release date and blurb! Agents of Shield Discussion

Image
If you can’t tell I’ve been watching a lot of shows lately… But on the bright side, I recently finished seasons one and two of Agents of Shield ! So you know what that means! I went into Agents of Shield with low expectations. I had heard that the beginning of season one was very eh but then it starts to pick up. This lead me to be very reluctant to start this series but exams came around and I needed a reason to avoid work and… here we are! I do definitely think that Agents of Shield has a few low points in its two seasons, specifically towards the beginning of season one and towards the end of season two. I’m not sure about the fans’ thoughts on season two, but I feel that season two started strong but ended kind of weak. I was extremely interested to learn more about Skye’s father but when you learned about his character… eh. Some things about him and his motivations were confusing. Then when Skye’s mom was introduced things just got a little to insane for me to suspend...

Time for a Change?

Hello! I’ve been thinking lately about the blog and such… the reason that I chose the name The Book Forums for the blog is because it is the name of my Instagram and I figured that it would be smart to just transfer the name. But now I’m branching out from more than just books into movies and TV so the name doesn’t fit as much… So this leads to what I’ve been thinking about. Maybe it’s time for a name change. I’ll have to think about a good name to take the place of y current one. If you have any suggestions please comment them below! Thanks… Meagan!

The Flash Season One Discussion

Image
This past Tuesday The Flash season one finale aired on The CW and OH MY GOSH I think this was my favorite episode of the season, I could go on just about that episode but that’s not why I’m here! I’m here to review all of season one! So when I first heard about The Flash TV show I was thinking eh— I just didn’t think anything of it, but when I started watching Arrow and Barry showed up I figured it would be a good idea to watch The Flash . I went into The Flash thinking that it would be kind of fun but nothing too serious… boy was I wrong! This show sucked me into this amazing would of meta-humans and speedsters and I don’t wanna go back! The best thing about The Flash was that it knew that it was a weird random show and it played with that turning it into this weird little fun show that I always looked forward to watching every Tuesday! I got so invested in these characters that after every episode when a new character was introduced I would immediately go look them up onlin...

Arrow Season 3 Discussion

Image
So the season finale of Arrow aired last week (yeah sorry I’m late) but now it’s time for a Season Three review of Batman *cough cough* I’m sorry I mean Arrow ! This is was the first season that I watched as it aired and man it was an interesting s eason to watch as it aired because this season really split fans. It took a much different path than season two, so different that some might not even call it Arrow anymore (hence the previous joke). Now I completely understand how this can get longtime fans up in arms but, you see, I’m new to this show and this character so this season “not being Arrow” didn’t bother me too much. One common complaint among fans was that Olicity was taking over too much of the show. I honestly didn’t mind the Olicity moments. People often say that Felicity is weak but I feel that it’s the opposite, she holds her own in the season, especially in times when Oliver is away.  Another character that I absolutely LOVED is Roy! This puppy dog eyed vigila...

Why Go to Book Conventions

Hey guys! So RT Booklovers Convention recently happened in Dallas and Book Con is coming up in New York ; this got me thinking, why do people love book conventions? It’s different reasons for everyone— seeing other readers, meeting authors, talking to authors and other bookworms; when I was thinking I realized that for me it’s because I love meeting authors and fellow bookworms. I love being able to talk to authors because they have actually written a book , something that I dream of doing. It gives me hope that maybe I can write a book! Maybe one day I’ll be like those authors and be signing my own book at a convention. Then I love talking to fellow bookworms because these are people that love the same things as me. I don’t have many IRL friends that are readers so it’s fun when I find friends and people that I can talk to about books to and nerd out about random stuff. Have you ever been to a convention? What was your experience like? Why did you go? Keep Reading… ...

Scorch Trials Trailer Reaction

Image
Hey guys! So today the Scorch Trials trailer dropped... and it's BEAUTIFUL! Now I'm going to do like what I did for my Insurgent trailer review and below will be shot by shot my thoughts on the trailer! So we open with a bunch of different clips and a of voiceover (Chancellor Paige?) talking about "the maze trials". If this is Chancellor Paige, who is she taking to? And will we see her in this movie? Then voiceover lady says "it's time to begin phase two" at which part the fangirl in me went crazy. Then some dude says "welcome to the Scorch!" With the wide shot of the Scorch in the background with all the sand everywhere and oh my gosh it looks epic! But I wanna know who the dude talking after voiceover lady is, is he rat man? But there's one part where he's talking about "stepping out this door, etc" and he's standing in front of a large metal door closing off what looks like a long hallway so I'm wondering if ...

Book Haul

Image
Hello! So lately I’ve been doing pretty well with not buying too many books but I kind of broke that record when I went to a small bookstore near my house today… But that’s good for y’all because now I can do a BOOK HAUL! I really enjoyed Libba Bray’s book The Diviners that I read a while back so when I saw this book for cheap I had to pick it up! I’m excited to read more of Libba Bray’s work; I think I’ll enjoy it! I read my first Caroline B Cooney book back in middle school when I read Flight 116 is Down . Ever since then I have wanted to read more of her books so when I was walking through my local bookstore and found a bunch of used Caroline B Cooney books for cheap, I had to buy one. I originally started reading this book last year but I had to stop since it was a library book, but now that I will be going to Book Con I want to finish Cinder so that I can get it signed. I have already started rereading/ finishing this one, and I can already tell I am going to l...

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl Review

Image
Hey guys! So today I finished Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews meaning that now it’s time for a review! Greg Gaines is the last master of high school espionage, able to disappear at will into any social environment. He has only one friend, Earl, and together they spend their time making movies, their own incomprehensible versions of Coppola and Herzog cult classics. Until Greg’s mother forces him to rekindle his childhood friendship with Rachel. Rachel has been diagnosed with leukemia—-cue extreme adolescent awkwardness—-but a parental mandate has been issued and must be obeyed. When Rachel stops treatment, Greg and Earl decide the thing to do is to make a film for her, which turns into the Worst Film Ever Made and becomes a turning point in each of their lives. And all at once Greg must abandon invisibility and stand in the spotlight. – Goodreads.com summary Rating This book is a hard one to rate because I feel so sure about half of it but then the e...

Reading Update

Image
Hey guys! Today I’m here with a reading update! Man, I haven’t done one of these in a while! I guess, it’s because I have been in a reading slump for so long, but now I’m reading two good books and I want to tell y’all that I’m reading them. I wanted to read this when I saw the trailer for the movie and it looked great. Then I heard that people involved in the movie are coming to Bookcon (and so am I) so I immediately went and bought this book on my kindle. So far this book has far surpassed my expectations— it is hilarious, fun, and interesting; I think I’ll be finishing it soon. My brother actually bought this book a while back so I had to wait for him to finish it before I had the chance to read it, but now he has given it to me to read and I’m so excited! I really liked Mistborn so I am excited to see where Brandon Sanderson goes with the story! Have you read any of the books mentioned above? What did you think of them? Also, what are you reading right now? ...

Avengers Age of Ultron Review

Image
Hello guys! So this weekend I went go see Avengers 2 Age of Ultron , and I really liked it! I want it to come out on DVD already so I can buy the blu ray! (Because there’s going to be a full 3 hour cut of the movie on it!). Since I don’t think I’ve mentioned it before, I think I should say that I remember enjoying the first Avengers movie but (honestly) I haven’t seen it since it first came out. But since I enjoyed The Avengers , I had high expectations for Age of Ultron , and it met those expectations! MINOR SPOILERS WILL BE BELOW THIS POINT! First let’s talk about the characters, and OMG HAWKEYE HAS A CHARACTER! I think I squealed when you saw Hawkeye’s family— I just never pictured Hawkeye having this simple life back home with a wife and kids… it was great. (I guess I have to stop making jokes about him now…) Someone else that the movie tried to develop was Natasha (Black Widow). I say ‘try’ because I feel like the movie just teases her backstory; it gives the audiences p...
